Important photographer (1879–1973) who was one of the pioneering figures in the field of “art” photography. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Museum of Modern Art letterhead, July 24, 1953. Steichen replies to Carl Haverlin of Broadcast Music in New York City. In full: “Thank you for remembering to return the Sandburg print. As far as I know there is only one Varese record which was issued by EMS. At least that is the one I have and the one which Carl heard.” In very good condition, with light wrinkling and creasing, pencil notation at top, and a paperclip impression at the top edge with some rust staining. Accompanied by a copy of the letter written to Steichen. Carl Sandburg was one of America’s most celebrated authors, and Edgard Varese was a pioneer in electronic music.
