Undated Edward Sellon autograph letter signed, entitled ''Farewell Ode'', written shortly before he shot himself on 17 April 1866. Sellon, an English writer of erotica, wrote his five page letter in verse. It reads in part: ''...Weapon of death! Deprive me of breath and shatter an already crushed heart...by good pistol alone would I fall...by good powder and ball...'' A separate page written by Sellon's friend describes his last actions. The 4.25'' x 7'' card style letter shows separation at folds and tape residue, else very good.
