British artist and writer (1812–1898) best known for his ‘nonsense’ books, which feature his quirky drawings and amusing verse. ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 3.5 x 4.25, August 22, 1849. Letter to a gentleman. In part: “Have you not heard anything yet of Charles? I cannot help writing to ask you…Pray excuse my troubling you again, but your brother will tell you I am a fidget by nature…my anxiety is natural enough as he was so very kind to me when I was ill.” In fine condition.
