Edward H. Bohlin Silver Parade Saddle
The “Dick Dickson Jr.” model was arguably the most popular parade saddle of the entire Edward H. Bohlin line. Intricately, fully floral carved, this elegant black Dickson is built on a Miles City tree with 13” swells, a 15” seat and 3 1/2” high silvered cantle. The mountings consist of heavy gauge, engraved sterling diamonds and half-diamonds with fully silvered cantle, swells, gullet and horn including Bohlin’s trademark rope-pattern edges. The horn also features the Bohlin raised buffalo. The silver corner plates are intricately engraved and continue the overall raised diamond pattern theme. The long tapaderos measuring over 21” include a central diamond motif and border plus a silver initial “H” in a circle. The rear cantle plate is engraved with the name of “A.C. Harris of Tulare, Calif” and is bracketed with silver pine trees – a fixture of that region’s popular Sequoia National Park. The ensemble includes a black & white wool corona plus a fully matching silver mounted Bohlin martingale and a Bohlin headstall with a Western Bit & Spur Co (San Francisco) bit, plus a pair of newer braided leather reins with silver ferrules. The full package is in very fine condition, c. 1940s.
