Extraordinary sterling silver telephone made by Edward Bohlin for P.K. Wrigley, of the Chicago-based chewing gum magnates. Absolutely stunning repousse western scenes of cowboys and cactus, including a cowboy roping a steer, cowboy on a bucking horse in front of a rattlesnake, grazing horses, tents, yuccas, and saguaros all in the foreground of a desert mountain-scape. With the BOHLINMADE mark under the handset and STERLING mark; and artist signed on handset “J PRITCHARD". Rope edged along base of phone, at ear and mouthpieces, and around the rotary dial. With gold P K W monogram on front. The handset measures 9" long, and the circular base is 5 ½" in diameter. The phones weighs in at nearly 5 total pounds. An opulent and custom artifact of its era, its maker, and its owner.

Includes a letter from James Nottage regarding the telephone.

“Philip Knight Wrigley (December 5, 1894 – April 12, 1977), sometimes also called P.K. or Phil, was an American chewing gum manufacturer and executive in Major League Baseball, inheriting both those roles as the quiet son of his much more flamboyant father, William Wrigley, Jr. His father died in 1932, elevating Philip's role in the family business. He presided over the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, and also the family hobby, the Chicago Cubs, as owner until his death."
