(London and Glasgow: Collins Clear-Type Press, nd), 56 pages, four tipped-in color plates, red cloth with gilt decoration, all edges gilt, 4to (8" x 11"). A handsome edition of the best-known English translation from the original Persian of mathematician and astronomer Omar Khayyám's (1048-1123) poetry. The word <I>rubáiyát</B></I> is derived from the Arabic root for four and means "quatrains," or verses of four lines.
