American statesman (1794–1865) who served in the House and Senate and as president of Harvard, minister to Great Britain, and secretary of state. AQS signed “Edward Everett,” on a 4.5 x 2.75 off-white trimmed sheet, dated Boston 12 Sept. 1862. In full: “Wherewithal shall a Young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Ps. cxix. 9.” In fine condition, with some trivial creasing and a few light spots of foxing.
