Unsigned partial typed manuscript draft for an article to be titled ‘Life in the Open Air,’ three pages, 8.5 x 11, circa 1903. Titled and attributed at the top in another hand, but contains over 30 corrections throughout handwritten by Hale. Draft begins, in part: “There is no subject which is to me so central and about which the public so much needs to be informed as the necessity of open air life [handwritten addendum: for people living in cities].” Scattered toning and soiling, and staple holes to the upper left, otherwise fine condition. The article was published in the October 1903 issue of Work with Boys: A Magazine of Methods.
