Two letters with good autographic content: an ALS signed “Edward E. Hale,” one page, South Congregational Church letterhead, September 30, 1879, in full: “Here are some autographs from the last generation which you will like. But whether your name is Mary or not,—I cannot remember. So my letter must take the chances of all your sisters and cousins and aunts”; and an ALS signed “W. C. Bryant,” one page, June 10, 1863, in part: “I have hitherto esteemed my autograph scarcely worth giving away even at the end of a promissory note but it quite raises my conceit of my own importance to be asked for it with a view of obtaining money by its sale. With this note I send you as many as you will probably be able to dispose of at your fair.” The Hales letter is affixed to a slightly larger page. In fine condition.
