Edward Delaney - PEACE PEOPLE

RHA (1930-2009)
bronze on marble base

25.4 by 10.16cm., 10 by 4in.

The title of this sculpture derives from the organisation Peace People founded in 1976 by Betty Wiliams, Mairead Corrigan and Ciaran McKeown in response to tragic events witnessed by Williams in Northern Ireland that year. Subsequent to their fight for peace and the public's overwhelming response to their efforts, Williams and Corrigan became the joint recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 (the prize for 1976).
