Union naval officer who was among the 98 officers and crew lost in 1874 when the USS Huron capsized off Nags Head, North Carolina. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Brasien and Company of Brooklyn, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “Yours respy, Ed. M. Olson, U.S.N.” In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light soiling to background and a slight brush to sentiment.
