Satin-finish 11 x 14 photo of the front page of The Illustrated London News from June 27, 1953, depicting Hillary posing next to Tenzing Norgay, signed in blue felt tip, "Ed Hillary." In fine condition. On May 29, 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to successfully reach the summit of the world's highest mountain. Following his historic climb, Hillary devoted most of his life to helping the Sherpa people, aiding in the construction of many schools and hospitals in Nepal.
