Historic vintage glossy 6 x 4 postcard photo of General Allenby entering Jerusalem on December 11, 1917, signed in fountain pen, "Allenby, F. M.” reverse bears the ink stamp of the "Imperial War Museum, Photographic Section, Crystal Palace, London." In very good to fine condition, with some small surface impressions, and a crease to the upper left corner.

After capturing Jerusalem as part of one of the pivotal campaigns in World War I, Allenby entered the city on foot in recognition of its status as a holy place. He later wrote of the event: 'I entered the city officially at noon, December 11th, with a few of my staff, the commanders of the French and Italian detachments, the heads of the political missions, and the Military Attaches of France, Italy, and America. The procession was all afoot, and at Jaffa gate I was received by the guards representing England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, India, France, and Italy. The population received me well.'
