Edith Bolling Wilson, second wife of President Woodrow Wilson, has signed the envelope vertically at the right edge, with her name typed below. Woodrow Wilson suffered a stroke in 1919 and Mrs. Wilson quietly assumed many of his day-to-day duties. It was once written that she was “a woman of narrow views and formidable determination.” Comes with a news account of Edith Wilson's death clipped from a newspaper. The envelope is slightly worn but Mrs. Wilson's signature is bold and bright.
