No. 21, issued in 1899 to Thomas A. Edison for 1,000 shares. Signed on the attached stub by Edison, as well as on the reverse (signature on reverse has faded ink). Punch cancelled but does not affect the autographs. Thomas Edison (1847–1931) was an American inventor, entrepreneur, and one of history's most prolific innovators, holding over 1,000 patents. He developed groundbreaking technologies including the phonograph, the incandescent light bulb, and the motion picture camera. Edison's creation of the first industrial research laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey, revolutionized the process of invention by fostering teamwork and systematic experimentation. His work in electrical power led to the founding of the Edison Electric Light Company, which later became part of General Electric. Known as the "Wizard of Menlo Park," Edison's inventions transformed modern life and helped usher in the age of electricity and mass communication.
