Edie Beale autograph letter signed. The fallen socialite addresses the 27 October 1989 postmarked envelope to her friend Guy Peirce in New York. Letter reads: ''...I think you were very brave to protest your working conditions...I should write 15 books about what they did to us!...Edie''. Cousin to Jackie Kennedy, Beale's riches-to-rags story and dysfunctional life with her mother in a deteriorated dwelling served as the subject of the 1975 documentary ''Grey Gardens''. Her comment in the text is likely a reference to the raid upon the Grey Gardens estate by the Board of Health, according to the letter's recipient. 2pp. written in pencil. Measures 5'' x 7.25''. Creasing with standard folds, else near fine.
