American novelist (1875–1950) best known for his popular series of novels based on feral-child-turned-jungle hero Tarzan. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 profile portrait by C. Heighton Monroe, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Willie Millstein with best wishes, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan, December 1933.” In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and surface marks, with a couple of creases touching his face, and a couple of areas of minor silvering none of which affects the outstanding image and signature. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
