Twelvemo. 401 pages.<BR><BR>Red cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front cover. Some wear on binding. Some dampstaining on top edges of paper. Minor stains at top of pages 2-8. Overall very good condition.<BR><BR>Edgar Rice Burroughs' first published novel and most celebrated work, <I>Tarzan of the Apes</B></I>, first appeared in the pulp magazine <I>All-Story</B></I> in October 1912. While writing the novel, he was awaiting publication of his first short story, "Under the Moons of Mars" (which he had written while working as a pencil sharpener) in <I>All-Story</B></I>.
