Apollo 14 insurance cover, 6.5 x 3.5, signed in ballpoint “Official crew cover from my personal collection, Edgar Mitchell.” The famous insurance covers, produced immediately prior to space missions in order to provide financial security for astronauts’ families in case of disaster, have earned near-legendary status as the ultimate space-related philatelic item and one of the most sought-after formats for astronaut autographs. A quantity of the Apollo 14 “insurance” covers, including the present example, were left unsigned by the crew during quarantine and were signed by Mitchell at a later date. Removably presented on a color 8.5 x 11 informational sheet. In very fine condition.
