TLS, two pages, 7.25 x 10.5, Eastern Air Lines letterhead, March 28, 1961. Rickenbacker writes as Chairman of the Board, in part: “After reading your communication, it is difficult to understand how so many things could happen to two good friends as happened to you on your trip to Miami and back. However, I am asking Mr. Robert L. Turner, our Vice President—Customer Services, to investigate this matter immediately and then send you a check covering the extra charges involved, including your long distance telephone calls…I hope you will accept my humble apologies for the great inconvenience you suffered.” A horizontal mailing fold passing through the tops of the first letters of the first and last name of the signature, a rusty paperclip impression at the top edge of both pages, and a faint impression of a paperclip towards the bottom of the second page, otherwise fine condition.
