Eddie Murray 400th HR Game Used Bat
1993 Eddie Murray 400th Career Home Run Game Used Bat. Historic signature model Louisville Slugger M275 served a key role in furthering the cause of this Hall of Famer's baseball immortality, lifting him atop the 400th home run plateau in a May 1992 meeting with the Atlanta Braves at Fulton County Stadium. Murray spoke fondly of the day in his Hall of Fame induction speech at Cooperstown years later, "I enjoyed playing for the Mets. I hit my 400th home run there. That's a day in Atlanta I will never forget. I can still remember the pitch. I still remember the guy running after it. I tell you, it was an unbelievable memory for me." The bat shows evidence of light use with a very slight handle crack, and the barrel exhibits a scattering of ball, spike and bat rack marks. Length and weight are thirty-five inches and thirty-four ounces respectively. Murray's number "33" appears in marker at knob end. A gold paint pen autograph from Murray includes his notation attesting to the bat's historic nature, "#400 H.R., 5/3/92." Further establishing the provenance is a letter from the director of marketing for one of the Mets' top corporate sponsors, who received the bat directly from the team.
