Eddie Money, known for his gritty vocals and blue-collar rock style, broke through in the late 1970s and continued to define the sound of American radio rock well into the '80s. A former NYPD trainee turned rocker, Money had a knack for combining hard rock with pop sensibilities, resulting in a string of hits that resonated with fans of both genres. His sixth studio album, Can't Hold Back, released in 1986 on Columbia Records, marked a notable commercial comeback and became one of the most successful albums of his career. This LP features the smash hit Take Me Home Tonight, a duet with Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes, which pays homage to the 1963 classic Be My Baby and became a Top 5 Billboard hit. Other standout tracks include the nostalgic anthem I Wanna Go Back, the emotional ballad Endless Nights, and the defiant title track I Can't Hold Back. The album balances catchy choruses with rock guitar riffs and slick '80s production, courtesy of co-producer Richie Zito. With strong radio play and a platinum certification, Can't Hold Back helped reestablish Eddie Money as a major force in the decade's rock scene. This 1986 pressing shows the classic Columbia red label and includes all original tracks. The album jacket features a moody sepia portrait of Eddie Money and the reverse layout with bold typographic treatment of the tracklist. A hallmark of mid - '80s arena rock, this record is a time capsule of the era's energetic and emotionally charged sound.
