NASA Red Number photo on Kodak paper of the Gemini IV launch, signed by Astronaut Edward H. White, to Engineer Harold "Hal Johnson. Ed White's ability to maneuver, as well as photo-document his 1965 Gemini Space-Walk , is made possible by Harold "Hal" I. Johnson's invention of the Hand-Held Self Maneuvering Unit (HHSMU). Astronaut Edward White inscribes to Harold Johnson, " To Hal Johnson, Your Work Helped Build The Mission For Gemini IV- Edward H. White." Astronaut Ed White and his two crewmates were the first American casualties of the Space Race after a fire erupted in the Apollo command module during a training exercise in 1967.
