29 5/8" by 22 1/4" Ed Singer (Born 1951) is active/lives in Arizona, New Mexico. Ed Singer is known for Indian figure painting, printmaking. A painter and printmaker in modernist styles, Ed Singer is a member of the Navajo nation. He has established his studio in Cameron, Arizona, having lived previously in Albuquerque and Flagstaff. His specialty is Indian figural subjects of which he says: "I don't do portraits. I use the figure in the same way that you would use a flower arrangement. The main intent is on the line. I always have to keep in mind, for instance in doing a hand, that the fact that it is a hand is not as important as that fact that it is a line. My work doesn't ask for sentimental or romantic response. It is more like an abrupt confrontation." (484) Singer began drawing as a child. His father was a home builder, and young Ed drew on sheetrock and also began doing watercolors at an early age. He studied at Southern Utah State College and Northern Arizona University and taught high school for three years in Tuba City. Allard Auction Collection Inv: RIPA 27448
