Ed Posen Gold Ingot. 7.306 Ounces
Ed Posen Gold Ingot. 7.306 Ounces. Ed Posen traveled frequently between the U.S., England, and Germany. He was listed as a "miner" on his papers from his last trip from the U.S. to Germany in 1884. It is probable that the gold from his ingots is actually from European sources, and he created these bars as a means of cash. To determine whether it is or if it is from Europe or Colorado, a "fingerprint" would have to be done at a lab in Australia. In any case, this is one of at least five Posen ingots. These bars first began to appear at public auction in 1974.
The top face reads: NO 510 / G followed by a club-shaped symbol followed by the letter T / 999 F / E POSEN ASSAYER imprint / 7.306 OZS. The sides and back are blank on this small, trapezoidal-shaped ingot. Bright golden surfaces with a few tiny handling marks. Measures: 31 x 44 mm.
Ex: Allen Lee Scott Sale (NASCA, 4/1980), lot 2441.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
