Images of Phillips’ friend and fellow performer with Pawnee Bill, Leonard Sasseen:
a) 7 1/4” x 9 1/4” image on 10” x 12” mount of Sasseen, Cy Compton and other cowboys both riding and sitting on their horses in front of the show backdrops. Signed to Sasseen, dated Boston May 18, 1911 on the back. Mounting board is stained but the image is not affected;
b) Nice sharp 6 1/2” x 4 1/2” image of Sasseen in full garb with woman in sidesaddle riding dress and a fine looking bulldog. Sasseen is wearing a great rig with Colt SAA, fancy cuffs and shotgun chaps;
c) 4 1/2” x 6 1/2” image of large group with Sasseen that has surrounded the couple in front of the same background as the previous photo;
d) 5” x 7” impressive image of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Pawnee Bill’s Far East combination. Cody, Lillie, Johnny Baker, Iron Tail and the complete cast of the Wild West. Leonard Sasseen can be seen far left, second row from the front, third person from the left and fellow cowboy Cy Compton;
e) 4 1/2” x 7” image on 8” x 10” board of Sasseen standing over a horse laying on the ground with a mounted Vaquero in background. On the verso, “From Henry Schmidt”;
f) Typed Letter on BB/PB letterhead, ink signed by G. W. Lillie (Pawnee Bill), dated June 25, 1913 on Buffalo Bill/Pawnee Bill stationery exonerating Leonard Sasseen to his wife for a mistake that appeared in a newspaper article suggesting hanky panky between Sasseen and another woman. Bold, crisp signature. 8 ½” x 10 ½”, very interesting content;
g) 2 3/4” x 3 1/2” on black mount showing Sasseen and two other cowboys on horseback;
h) 3 3/4” x 4 3/4” Sasseen standing far left in front of covered wagon with other cowboys and vaqueros;
i) Four images 4” x 5” of Sasseen with other cowboys and vaqueros;
j) 2” x 3”. Sasseen standing with Indians;
k) 2” x 4” Sasseen on white horse;
l) 3 1/2” x 4 1/2” cowboy Leonard Sasseen and another man roping a buffalo in arena;
m) 3” x 5” of Sasseen with same buffalo;
n) 5 1/2” x 4” Sasseen in San Francisco studio image in suit;
