Connecticut soldier who joined the Continental Army after hearing of the Battle of Lexington. War-dated DS, signed “Eben’r Gray, Lt. Col,” one page, 8 x 5, August 7, 1782. Gray signs to attest to payment for David Bradley “due to me for my service as a soldier in the Connecticut Line of the Continental army from the first day of January, 1780 to the first day of January, 1782.” Intersecting folds, wrinkling, edge toning, and show-through from writing on opposing sides, otherwise fine condition.
