Eastern Zhou period (Warring States) green jade carving in shape of an oblong container having 2 handles carved in open work with zoomorphic design. The sides have vertical grooves decorations. The same pattern continues on the lid that has a seated dragon forming the handle. This is a very rare jade carving of superlative quality seen during Eastern Zhou period as a peak of ancient Chinese arts epoch. There is superficial jade pitting and fossilization attesting to the authenticity of the item. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors", and the owner of Objets d'Art Uniques Internet store.
