Very rare original ticket, 6.5 x 3.5, to “the formal premier of East of Eden,” at New York’s Astor Theatre on March 9, 1955. Ticket has a $50.00 price on it as the showing was a benefit for the Actors Studio; and an original 28 x 22 half-sheet color poster for East of Eden, proclaiming James Dean “in his very first picture—a very special star!” Ticket is in very good to fine condition, with a central vertical crease to ticket, as well as a punch hole and some light soiling; poster is very good, with paper loss and dampstaining to lower right corner, some light creases and soiling, and a small tear to left edge. Presented as a benefit for the Actor's Studio, several famous students and alumni served as ushers and ticket takers, including Marilyn Monroe and Eva Marie Saint. Accompanied by two glossy photos of Marilyn Monroe at the event.
