Earthquake Brick Prop
Universal Studios burst into Irwin Allen's territory with the formula of all-star disaster movies, with "Earthquake" (1974). With a script co-written by the "Godfather's" Mario Puzo, and directed by legendary Mark Robson, it raised the bar of this genre. It was a smash hit, especially in the theaters equipped with Universal's answer to "virtual cinema", a thing called "Sensoround", which was basically massive sub-woofers installed in the theater to make you feel the full "rumble" every time an earthquake or aftershock roared across the screen. it was also one of the last major effects movies to use the grand old techniques of matt paintings and miniatures, before computers took over everything. This is a wonderful keep-sake of this treasured blockbuster. A brick made of foam, and used in the "downtown city street" scenes . (approx. 8" x 4" x 2.5")
