Note Number 652 for £11.0.1 3/4 issued to Andrew Abner. The note bears his mark, “x,” on verso. This mark is partially punched out by a circular punch cancellation. According to our research, Abner was granted his freedom by John Wright and Like Fortune, both of Wethersfield, in May of 1777. Following his manumission, Abner served in the Connecticut Line until 1780. The year after his service ended, Abner had earned enough money to purchase another Wethersfield slave, Zipporah, as his wife. Very slight edge wear. Small pinhole at lower right-center. Overall Very Fine.
