murdered Deadwood pioneer and civil engineer Frank Peck. Peck who moved to Deadwood with his parents in 1878 surveyed for most of the gold mines including Homestake through out the Black Hills and was involved with the surveying of South Dakota's northern border, later he surveyed the first roads through the hills. 1926 Peck was killed murdered by a home made bomb resulting in Deadwood's most gruesome unsolved murder. Includes 2 wood cased instruments, largest with "Frank Peck Deadwood SD" carved into wooden top, additional uncased compass, 2) -66" tripods and copy of Deadwood Magazine with the well written story of Frank Peck.
