Early model 1881 Marlin lever-action rifle, .45-70 caliber, 28" octagon barrel, full magazine, standard shotgun type butt, fixed side early action, #43. The rifle shows 30-50% blue mixing with a brown patina. Some scattered light tomoderate erosion, pinprick pitting. The stocks are fair to good with a crack and split on the forend exposing the magazine. Some minor scratches and oiling, and a couple of chips, but generally fair. The markings are good, the action good, bore v good. One of the lowest numbers known on this model Marlin rifle made in the height of the Western frontier. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
