This is a vintage lithograph of Icarus "After the Fall" in it's original frame. It features the beautiful and tragic Greek mythology character who flew to close to the sun. In an attempt to rescue his Father from prison Icarus and Daedalus fashioned wings of feathers to fly away. Icarus flew to close to the sun and dropped to the sea and rocks below and drowned.
This is a fabulous old print with the character draped on the rocks, his wings still aglow from the sun. The full story can be found in Ovid Metamorphoses. I have owned and loved this piece for over thirty years.
