Early deluxe Gustav Young style engraved 1849 Colt pocket model, .31 caliber, 4” barrel, traces of original blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, serial #65939. The Colt shows “Samuel Colt” in script onbarrel. Fancy Gustav Young florals with characteristic tight scrolls, “Colt’s Patent” hand-cut on left side of frame in block letters, surrounded by cobwebs and florals. The barrel shows 10-20% drifting originalblue finish going to an even patina with some erosion and pitting, mostly on the right side of the frame. The cylinder shows 75% plus scene with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting. The frame, hammer, andloading lever show traces of case hardening within a smokey gray patina. The backstrap and patina show 40-60% darkened silver patina. The deluxe varnish wood grips are very good with 75% varnish, some minor nicks, mars, scratches, marks on the butt and fit impeccably. The pistol shows all matching serial numbers, good crisp edges and markings, good action, good overall. The engraving is above average and definitely the
