Early and Desirable Randall No. 1 ''All-Purpose'' Fighting Knife, 7'' blade, 12'' overall, 2-3/4'' brass double hilt, aluminum pommel with brass nut, 21 leather washer handle, choil measures 1''x1/4'', five thick red/white/blue spacers to hilt; two thick (one red/one white) at pommel. In early brown leather unmarked scabbard by Southern Saddlery, Chattanooga, TN, showing rivets at throat, with white Washita stone. Knife dates from approx. 1943-44 with these features. Condition is fine to near excellent with sharpening to blade, very pleasing honey-colored patina to hilt, and minor oil darkening to leather washers. Exterior of scabbard shows medium brown tanning, with large reinforcing rivets at throat; rough back has been blackened. Scabbard shows several missing stitches and wear at point. Large brass snaps are in place. Retaining strap shows light crazing. Original leather thong is present. Est.: $5,000-$7,500.
