Early World War II Production RS Inspected U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Manufactured in 1941. The pistol has a brushed blue finish and is fitted with a pair of early checkered brown plastic grips, with reinforcing rings, correctly unribbed. The pistol has a "P" proofmark on the top of the slide ahead of the rear sight and on the left side of the frame below the magazine release. The final inspection mark "RS." (Colonel Robert Sears) in a rectangle is stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release and on the top of the frame. The Colt barrel has a full blue finish, with "P" on the left side of the lug and "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number behind the slide stop pin hole and "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" ahead of it. The left side of the trigger guard bow is marked with a Colt "T" assembly mark and the Colt verified proof. The left side of the slide has the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Rampant Colt and the Hartford address in a second two-line block. With a blue magazine stamped "L" on the toe and "C-L" on the base.

Very fine The pistol retains 75% of the original polished blue finish, showing a bright patina along the high edges, some light spotting on the forward portion of the slide and frame, and some light scratches and dings overall. The front strap has a smooth gray patina. The grips are very fine, with some mild pressure dents and sharp checkering.
