Early World War II Production RS Inspected U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster

This is an example of a U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 pistol that was inspected by Colonel Robert Sears. This pistol was manufactured late 1941. The left side of the frame is marked with the boxed "R.S." inspection marking of Col. Robert Sears, with "P" proof below the magazine catch, with the standard Colt triangle "VP" proof mark on the trigger guard and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No 7440451 and M1911A1 U.S ARMY" on the right side of the frame. The matching serialized slide has the standard two-line two-block patent and address markings on the left side with the Rampant Colt in the center and "P" proof on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. Replacement blue barrel marked "P" on the left side of the lug and "F" on the right. It has standard fixed front and rear sights, with the checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide release and thumb safety, milled checkered trigger, checkered arched mainspring housing, Colt marked magazine and brown plastic grips with the hollow back with small reinforcing rings around the screw holes. Comes with a modified "US" embossed leather Boyt "43" dated holster with a name and name scratched into the back.

Finish: parkerized
Grips: plastic

Very good as arsenal refurbished with much of the thin parkerized finish remaining, thinning to a smooth gray patina on the slide and overall edge wear. The slide stop and thumb safety are both blue and retains 90% finish. The replacement grips are excellent with minimal minor handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The holster has had the shoulder straps removed, otherwise is good with some scuffs, stains and tight stitching.
