Early Wood and Catlinite Bullet Mold,
composed of two carved and slotted wooden sides, each fitted with a catlinite inset, with five circular molds, three approximately .30 caliber, one .32 cal, one approximately .36 cal. The sides each with a recurved handle, and one with a wooden pin that fits into a matching hole on the other side of the mold. With great patina, and one half of the mold with inked "Bullet mould made of Pipestone used by an Indian Chief as early as 1765" and "Presented by Dr. E.S. Sterling;" 11" long x 1.25" x 1.25," with 7.5" catlinite inserts. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. Both catlinite inserts with cracks, one missing a .25" piece at the base of a bullet mold. Both halves of the mold with red enamel accession number "43.3835."
