This is an early rare Winchester display board that was probably intended to demonstrate the various military cartridges that Winchester could produce. The more common commercial cartridge are not shown. The board measures 30" x 24 1/4", on a paper backing marked "GOVERNMENT CONTRACTORS" at the top, "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO" image of the factory flanked by "TRADE / H / MARK" in the center and "CAPACITY OF WORKS 2,000,000 CARTRIDGES DAILY" at the bottom. Approximately 81 cartridges on the board ranging from B.B. to 58 caliber Musket and 6 brass shotgun shells, (two cut away). 3 cartridges are absent from the board. The upper left hand corner has a glass covered display of No1 and No 2 Winchester percussion caps with a label for a cap tin above it and the upper right corner has the same display with Berdan No. 1 and No 2 percussion caps with cap tin label.

Condition: A bit fragile, but good. The frame is absent and there are two large eyelets mounted on the top with a wire for hanging. Most of the cartridges are corroded. The paper backing, front and back, is flaking and peeling, and is very delicate. There was a small tear and bubbling of the paper in the center of the display that appears to have been glued some time ago.
