Early WWII Production U.S. Springfield Armory British Lend Lease M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle
This is an example of a WWII British "Lend Lease" M1 Garand rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1941. This rifle was one of the many rifles that were given to Great Britain at the start of WWII to help them re-arm until British companies could gear up to produce sufficient quantities of the Enfield rifles. The rear of the receiver is marked "U.S. RIFLE / CAL 30 M1 / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / 350882". The right side of the barrel under the op-rod is marked "Crown over BNP", ".30/06 2.494' 18 TONS PER Square" symbol, and the "crossed scepters" acceptance proof. The barrel is also marked "S-A- 10-41", a "D" and "4". It still retains the original "BATTLE RANGE" marked rear sight. The hand guards and stock are the correct WWII style with the boxed "S.A. / GHS" cartouche followed by the crossed cannon cartouche and the circled "P" in the pistol grip area. Complete with a brown leather "BOYT / 44" marked sling.
