Early W. C. Scott & Son side-lever release, exposed-hammer, double-barrel, 10ga shotgun. Damascus steel barrels, serial #18033. There is a silver plaque inlaid into the belly of the buttstock inscribed W. M. Nixon, 1875(should be researched as to any relation to the former president). Barrels measure 31” and show a deep brown finish with some scattered light to slightly heavy areas of pitting. The action and breech show traces of case hardening going to silver and show fine English engraving. The stocks are good with some small losses, normal wear, a couple of slight cracks around the actions. The bores are fair to good and may clean. The locks are working. Gun locks tight, original steel butt retained. W. C. Scott was one of the premier 19th century English makers and this one may have some interesting historical association that is researchable.
