This lot features an exceptional set of early Vaquero spurs showing a double-mounted silver and heavy iron construction and dating to the 1900's. Each spur features extensive hand tooled silver overlay and large 8 point horseshoe rowels. The engraved silver overlay depicts a horse and an Aztec warrior with animal headdress. The straps shows wonderful tooled leather design and is attached to the yoke by two swinging buttons with additional engraved silver overlay. The spurs have a figure eight point where the rowel is attached to the neck of the spur. The spurs measure 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" and have a 2 1/4" rowel.
