<B>Early Thaddeus Stevens Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Thaddeus Stevens</B></I>”. One page, 7.75” x 10.5”, Harrisburg Pennsylvania , March 16, 1835, in ink, to E. Chauncey. This letter was written while Thaddeus Stevens (1792-1868), then a member of the Whig Party, served in the Pennsylvania state legislature. Stevens writes this letter of introduction on behalf of “<I>James Tod Esqr of Fayette County</B></I>” and informs Chauncey “<I>As he is an influential politician as well as a gentleman, any suggestions from you for the mutual benefit of our respective parties & the good of the country will be thankfully rec'd.</B></I>” Stevens would later go on to greater things in the House of Representatives where he vigorously pursued anti-slavery legislation. Letter has the usual fold creases with some toning to paper, else very good. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
