Featured in this lot is set of early steel railroad kerosene lanterns. The first is a Frisco lantern. The lantern was manufactured by Handlan, out of St. Louis, Missouri in the 1920's. The lamp is constructed of stamped steel, and features a glass globe, with raised lettering. The ventilator of the lantern and the globe are marked "FRISCO" and the globe is etched with "SAFTEY FIRST" and the ventilator is stamped "70976." Additionally, the bottom of the lamp is labeled "Handlan - St. Louis". The bottom is also marked with patent dates. Overall, the lantern is in good condition for age. The lantern measures 15 3/8" tall, and 7 1/8" wide. The second piece is a rare Star Head Light Co. lantern out of Rochester, N.Y. The lamp is constructed of stamped steel, and features a glass globe. The ventilator of the lantern is marked "Star Head Light Co. Rochester N.Y. U.S.A." This lantern is in good condition with use wear and light rust. It measures approximately 15 3/8" tall, and 7 1/8" wide.
