Early Smith & Wesson Military and Police model .38 special caliber, double action revolver with factory 6” barrel, fully and finely Western-style scroll engraved, nickel plated with raised carved steer head grips on right side, serial number 577956. The engraving shows a J.R. signature on the right side just above the trigger guard. The revolver retains 75% to 85% old nickel finish and the engraving appears to be cut through the original nickel long ago. The grips and engraving are very similar to other examples known to of been shipped to Wolf and Klar located in Fort Worth, Texas. The action is good, the bore is good, and the hammer and trigger show traces of case hardening. The revolver is can accompanied by a period Pitiado embroidered holster in fancy floral designs and the belt is for .38 special cartridges which matches the holster well and shows identical embroidery and designs.
