Early Red Wing Stoneware Cherry Band Pitcher RARE
Featured in this lot is this rare early red wing stoneware cherry band pitcher. The pitcher features a wonderfully and professionally crafted stoneware construction that shows a double band of floral decoration adorning the bottom and top of the pitcher with a blue coloration adorning the bands of the pitcher. The earliest date known for this particular design is 1914 as evidenced on the all-white "Becker" advertising pitcher. apparently this style was first produced as a special order item for Becker;s use and then became a regular production item. It first appears in a catalog ca. 1916 which indicated three sizes and was available in either brown or blue tint. Sharp mold markings and shiny glaze added to this pitcher. The condition of this Red Wing pitcher is fair to good with a single hairline crack to the left side of the pitcher but otherwise shows fair to good overall condition. The measurements of this pitcher is 8 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 7 1/2".
