Early Randall No. 1-8 ''All Purpose'' Fighting Knife, with owner's name ''Francis C. Field'' etched on reverse of 8'' hump-back blade, brass double hilt, leather washer handle with five thick spacers at the hilt and one extra red at the pommel. Aluminum pommel cap with folded aluminum lanyard and brass tang nut places this knife's production in between late 1942 and 1944. Leather wrist thong appears to be original. Scabbard is brass snapped Heiser with white sharpening stone. Condition is very good with carbon spotting and light to just moderate pitting to blade, with longitudinal fine sharpening marks. False edges with some knackering. Leather handle shows wear commensurate with age. Pommel cap with moderate pitting. Scabbard is very good to fine with crazing on keeper strap, belt loop and stone pocket. Sharpening stone shows light use. Leather thong appears original. Est.: $4,000-$6,000.
