<B>Early Radford, Virginia Archive,</B></I> consisting of 19 items pertaining mostly to the Ingles, Radford and Taylor Families. Grouping includes a 1789 receipt, several antebellum letters from the 1830s - 1850s and an 1846 Mexican War letter to John B. Radford from a "<I>Dragoon Camp near Evansville Ark</B></I>". Of particular interest are three Civil War items as follows: October 6, 1861 ALS from Nannie Radford to her brother Captain John Radford with envelope addressed to him in the 24th Virginia camp at Fairfax Station; Manuscript General Orders from February 20, 1863 assigning Major John Radford to the 4th Virginia; and, a manuscript accounting of re-enlistments and recruits for Company "E", 24th Virginia Infantry. This document is signed by Captain William M. Bentley of the 24th. A final item of note is a Bank of Radford canceled check from 1891 which is signed by former Confederate general G. C. Wharton.
