Early Race Program. 1911 "First Annual Reliability Team Match, Chicago Motor Club, Amateur vs. Trade...To St. Joseph, Mich. and Return." 6 x 9, (12) pp. Full page photo of the impressive trophy awaiting the victor. Intricate two-day route, starting in the Windy City, through Gary, Ind., into Mich.: "...Follow trolley between oil tanks straight into center of East Chicago...Rather soft sandy dirt... watering trough on right...." The "Pacemaker" drove a Rambler, the "Pilots" a Midland automobile. One team captain, David Beecroft, would be a lifelong friend of the Duryeas, who in 1895 had won the first auto race in America, also beginning in Chicago. Cover soiling, some wear, good. Rare.
